Of the several prescribed Ziyarat of Imam Husayn (as), Ziyarat Nahiyah has a special place as it is recited by Imam Mahdi (as) himself. One of the most important features of this Ziyarat is that through different phrases, Imam Mahdi (as) describes the events of Ashura and the agony that Imam al-Husayn (as) and his family faced on that horrific and ominous day. Shaheed-e-Mehraab, Maulana Sayyed Mohammed Jafar Saheb Zaidi (ra) who expired in 28 Zilhajj 1400 AH (November 7, 1980) in Lahore. After a brief sermon he wrote, This Ziyarat is actually a gift for Islam and homage paid by Imam Mahdi (as) to his beloved, oppressed grandfather, the fifth companion of the cloak, Sayyed ash-Shohada (as). While Allah (s.w.t.) has conveyed His salaam upon the previous prophets in Quran, He has granted a special status only and only to the Holy Prophet (sawa) in that He (swt), along with Holy Prophet (sawa), has also conveyed salaam upon the family of the Holy Prophet (sawa) in Quran. In Surah Saffat, verse 130, Allah says, Salamun Ala Ale Yaseen (salaam upon the family of the Prophet (sawa)). This verse is the first sentence of this ziyarat. (more…)
Duas, Namaz and Ziyarats are an integral part of the teachings of the Holy Prophet of Islam (sawa) and the Ahle Bayt (as). For each of these, one can supplicate in His own language and his own words. However it is recommended to turn to Allah through the words of Holy Prophet (sawa) and the Imams (as). Indeed they are the chosen servants of Allah, those through whom he chose to reach His message to mankind. (more…)
